My Migration Story Polish Migrants Stories Australia Aldona Kmiec

I have recently submitted a short piece of creative writing on the topic of migration to a writing contest run by a Polish publishing house in Brisbane, Favoryta.Com. My Migration story as well as over twenty other Polish migrants in Australia has been beautifully published in a softcover book My Migration – Moja Emigracja. With over 300 pages in both English & Polish translation, it’s a beautiful edition to have. Love the cover.

The book is an outcome of My Migration writing competition, whose purpose was to foster interest in literature through exploration of authentic cross-cultural experiences of Polish migrants in Australia. It is a collective study of migrant experience by twenty one contributors.

It describes the authors sense of their national identity, their experiences of the communist Poland, and overall, discuss the question of nationality as a person’s identity.

“The earliest emigration experiences describe the beginnings of the 1950s of the 20th century; the most recent ones took place only months ago.

Some concern Australia, some date back to previous trips and visits to other parts of the world. Some authors have focused on a detailed description of their fate, others wanted to mainly express their feelings and emotions, while others are tempted by general reflections.”

Book is in Polish and English. Soft cover. The book is in National Library of Australia and National Library of Poland. ‘My Migration’ book is available to purchase online from Amazon here.
