Roman & Teresa Skrypko set up the Polish Seniors Club and have been heavily involved in promoting Polish culture to Ballarat community and beyond. Roman is also a keen photographer and took his German camera on the ship to Australia back in 1949. Seeing his obvious talent in these documentary photos depicting a daily life of a migrant in 1950s Ballarat, I was super inspired to do more with these beautiful photos an memories.

The time and opportunity came – I was asked to produce and curate a Photographic Exhibition Who Made Ballarat for the Heritage Weekend 2014.

With collaboration with Andrew Black we presented a joint exhibition featuring archival images from the ‘Have you seen Old Ballaarat Town’ Facebook Page images and contemporary portraits created by Aldona Kmiec in 2013 through the We R You paper paste-up project, an initiative of the City of Ballarat Arts & Culture and Victorian Department of Justice.
